The jam

Made in a week during a school jam on the theme “Alt Controller”, which meant designing a physical controller along with the game.

Inspired by tabletop games, we built a table with a real ball on it. Players tilt the table together to move the ball and protect their characters from meteor strikes. The waves get harder, and surviving them takes talking to each other.

The controller: a round table, a ball, and everyon’ hands.

The controller

The table tilts in every direction. A camera tracks the ball and its position is mapped into the game in real time.

Coordinating your hands with the other players while watching the screen is the fun of it, and not something a gamepad could give you.
